A compact backyard in London’s Old North neighbourhood is transformed into a private outdoor oasis for relaxation, recreation and entertaining. The architectural composition consists of chiselled stone steps and retaining walls that traverse the gentle grade change and frame the grassed access between textural and flowering planting borders. Broad lawn treads cascade down to a generous Indiana limestone terrace where a pool unfolds incorporating a spa, waterfall and fire feature.
A covered dining area integrated into the back of a new garage includes a seatwall and outdoor shower to maximize its utility. Layered privacy is furnished with a combination of wooden privacy fencing, beech and cedar hedging, and Chanticleer pear trees. The tranquil ambience and intricacy offer balance and simplicity that unify and heighten the overall beauty and experience of the private oasis.
