A tiny, underutilized, City of London remnant open space required urban acupuncture to rejuvenate its purpose and meaning. A collaborative effort with the City, SoHo Community Association and the Forest City Gallery staged a design charrette to determine the space’s design objectives and goals to awaken a spirit of place. The design outcome is an inviting, angular organic insertion of paving and seatwalls that splice the site with enveloping native plantings.

The converging hardscape features are complemented by amenities including a chess table, bike rack and recycling station. The entire landscape consists of plant species as well as some edibles which embody the desired native and urban agricultural goals. A large water harvesting tank is connected to the adjacent building’s downspout to collect rainwater for the landscape.
