A blank slate and a steep slope provided the groundwork for the transformation of a basic backyard into a recreational and exuberant retreat complete with terraced gardens, pool and spa. An imaginative and thorough client provided inspiration and innovative ideas throughout the entire collaborative design process to push and realize the vision.
Near the renovated screened-in room a custom spa takes advantage of a lofty perch offering a commanding perspective of the cascading landscape and pool below. Stone walls spatially organize spaces and levels and frame 2 staircases that traverse the terraced gardens. At the base of the redesigned yard a rectangular pool sits comfortably and balanced by a chaise lounge patio complemented by lush gardens. The planting design, which takes on an appropriately understated and monochromatic colour palette with a subtle textural approach, was undertaken by the client and is commended.
